Requirements checked on October 27, 2026 from Gallaudet's public pages (sources).
Gallaudet University asks international applicants to make sure their high school and college transcripts are translated into English before sending them, and recommends World Education Services for transcript evaluation; transfer credit needs a course-by-course evaluation from AACRAO International Education Services or WES, plus a course syllabus translated into English for every course.
Gallaudet does not say who must translate; Gallaudet University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. The evaluations come from the agencies, and we do not provide them.
Gallaudet at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Gallaudet asks that transcripts be translated into English before sending and notes that many certified translation services are available, without restricting who translates (international admissions); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Sample translation: a Brazilian university transcript
This is what an order looks like when it is delivered, with invented names, school and numbers. The original in Portuguese sits next to our English translation, and the PDF starts with the signed certification page. Bracketed text in the translation is a translator's note: each abbreviation is spelled out the first time it appears, and the layout follows the original line for line, so an admissions officer or a credential evaluator can match it without guessing.

What to notice
- CPF, RG, MEC, D.O.U., CH, CR and ENADE are spelled out in brackets the first time they appear, and only then.
- Status codes (AP, RM, RF, AE) are explained on first use, so a course failed and retaken the next term reads correctly.
- Grades, decimal commas and dates stay exactly as printed; the date format is noted once. Converting grades is the evaluator's job.
- Terms, rows and columns follow the original line for line, so each course can be matched at a glance.

Gallaudet requirements in detail
Translation
Transcripts translated into English before you send them (International admissions).
Who may translate
Not stated; Gallaudet notes many certified translation or evaluation services are available (International admissions).
Application
Online application with a $50 fee, a written essay and an ASL video essay, an academic recommendation, unofficial transcripts and ACT, SAT or TOEFL scores (International admissions).
Evaluation
WES recommended for transcript evaluation; the applicant pays (International admissions).
Transfer credit
Course-by-course evaluation from AACRAO International Education Services or WES ($160) (international credits).
Syllabi
A course syllabus translated into English for every course taken; courses without syllabi count as general electives (International credits).
Translate first, even for unofficial copies
Gallaudet's international checklist lists unofficial high school and college transcripts for the application and asks you to make sure they are translated into English before sending (international admissions).
The same page says many certified translation or evaluation services exist and recommends starting with World Education Services for evaluation.
WES itself asks for a word-for-word translation by a professional translator, so one eVerbary certified translation can go to Gallaudet and to WES.
Transfer credit: evaluation plus translated syllabi
International students with transfer work need a course-by-course evaluation from AACRAO International Education Services or WES, showing the course names, credits and US grade equivalents.
Gallaudet also asks for a course syllabus, translated into English, for every course taken; courses without a syllabus are granted only as general electives and do not count toward the major (international credits). Syllabi are often long: ask for a free quote if you have many.

- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.

Uploading the translation to Gallaudet
Upload or send the translated unofficial transcripts with your application; for transfer credit, the evaluation agency sends its course-by-course report and you submit the translated syllabi (International admissions; credits).
On request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Gallaudet that means we translate your transcripts and syllabi; the WES or AACRAO evaluation is ordered by you.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to translate my transcripts before applying to Gallaudet?

Who may translate my transcripts?

Which evaluators does Gallaudet accept for transfer credit?
AACRAO International Education Services or World Education Services (International credits).
Do my course syllabi need translation?
Yes, for transfer credit: a syllabus translated into English for every course (International credits).
