How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026

Emerson College asks international first-year applicants for official secondary transcripts, with a certified translation for every transcript not in English, and offers a discounted evaluation through TEC.

Emerson College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

Transfer applicants also need an evaluation by WES, ECE or CED, and graduate applicants with a degree from abroad a course-by-course evaluation; those evaluations are something we do not provide.

Emerson at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Emerson's international page says all non-English transcripts must include a certified translation, without saying who makes it (international applicants); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Policy checked on October 27, 2026.

Worth knowing about Emerson

Transfers: WES, ECE, CED

Evaluations can take up to eight weeks.

No application fee

Waived for international applicants.

Emerson requirements in detail

Translation (first-year)

All non-English transcripts must include a certified translation; documents must be originals, not faxes or photocopies (International applicants).

Who may translate

Evaluation (first-year)

Emerson partners with The Evaluation Company for a discounted evaluation (International applicants).

Transfer

International transcripts must be evaluated by WES, ECE or the Center for Educational Documentation; allow up to eight weeks (transfer).

Graduate

Degrees from outside the US need a course-by-course evaluation with GPA and degree equivalency; WES, ECE or another NACES member recommended (graduate policies).

Deadlines

Early Action and Early Decision I: November 1 (International applicants).

Three levels, three different requirements

First-year applicants send official secondary transcripts listing courses and grades, each non-English transcript with a certified translation, and complete a credential evaluation through Emerson's TEC partnership (international applicants).

Transfer applicants are evaluated by WES, ECE or the Center for Educational Documentation, and Emerson warns that evaluations may take up to eight weeks, so start early (transfer applicants).

Graduate applicants can upload unofficial transcripts for review, but a degree completed outside the US needs a course-by-course evaluation showing GPA and degree equivalency, sent to the Office of Graduate Admission; Emerson asks you to check with the agency which documents it needs (graduate policies).

Timing the translation and the evaluation

An evaluation agency starts only when it has your documents and their translations. With an eight-week window for transfer evaluations and November 1 deadlines for early plans, order the translation first; most eVerbary orders arrive within a few hours.

Need a certified translation for Emerson?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Secondary school transcripts with courses and grades
  • College or university transcripts
  • Degree certificates, for graduate applicants

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to Emerson

  • First-year applicants apply through the Common Application or the Emerson Application; the transcript and its certified translation go with your official documents (International applicants). For transfers and graduate applicants, the translation goes to the evaluation agency with your records.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Emerson that means we translate your records; the TEC, WES, ECE or CED evaluation comes from the agency.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

What translation does Emerson accept?

A certified translation of each non-English transcript; Emerson does not say who must make it (International applicants).

Do transfer applicants need an evaluation?

Yes, from WES, ECE or the Center for Educational Documentation (Transfer applicants).

What evaluation does the graduate office want?

Course-by-course, with GPA and degree equivalency (Graduate admission policies).

Is there an application fee for international applicants?

No, it is waived (International applicants).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
