How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Del Mar College requires every foreign transcript to be evaluated into US equivalency by a NACES member, showing at least a US high school diploma, and a course-by-course evaluation to use college credit earned abroad.
Del Mar's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
For transfer credit, course descriptions in another language must be translated by one of the approved agencies, and the evaluation itself is something we do not produce.

Del Mar requirements in detail
Translation
No rule of its own for transcripts; every foreign transcript is evaluated by a NACES member, and the translation is what the agency needs (Apply).
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency; see below. Course descriptions for transfer credit: one of the approved agencies.
Evaluation for admission
Into US equivalency, showing at least a US high school diploma (Apply).
College credit
A course-by-course evaluation for credits earned outside the US; Del Mar decides what it accepts (Transcripts).
Course descriptions
Required for transfer credit, from your previous institution; if not in English, Del Mar only accepts them translated by an approved agency (TERF form).
Where it goes
Student Enrollment Center, 101 Baldwin Blvd., Corpus Christi, TX 78404, or any campus enrollment center (Transcripts).
F-1 deadlines
New students: June 1 for fall, October 1 for spring. Transfers from a US school: July 1, November 1, April 1 (Apply).
What the evaluation agencies ask for the translation
Del Mar accepts any NACES member, so the translation rule is the agency's. WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not accept translations by applicants.
ECE wants a complete, literal translation in the same format and lets applicants translate themselves; for $85 it translates internally for its report, without giving you a translation you can reuse.
FCSA, in Austin, accepts certified translations from most professional agencies. Some NACES members accept only a translator certified by ATA, so check your agency's page before ordering.
Transfer credit: the TERF and course descriptions
To have coursework from abroad counted, Del Mar needs the Transcript Evaluation Request Form, an evaluation of your international transcript from an approved agency, and course descriptions from your previous institution for the courses you want to transfer (Transcript Evaluation Request Form (PDF)).
The form says course descriptions in another language must be translated to English and that Del Mar only accepts descriptions translated by one of the approved agencies, listed at naces.org.
That rule is stricter than the one for transcripts: for course descriptions, ask the evaluation agency to translate them, not us.
TERF requests are processed in 6 to 8 weeks once every official transcript is on file, and correspondence goes to your Del Mar email only (Transcript Evaluation Request Form (PDF)). Evaluation by an agency does not guarantee that Del Mar will accept or use the credit (Transcripts).

- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.

Uploading the translation to Del Mar
The translation goes to the NACES agency with your records (WES takes uploads in your WES account: WES: translation requirements); the agency's evaluation goes to the Student Enrollment Center (Transcripts).
The TERF and course descriptions go to the Office of the Registrar: Harvin Center Room 270, Coleman Center Room 128, or reginfo@delmar.edu (Transcript Evaluation Request Form (PDF)).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Del Mar that means we translate your transcripts and diplomas for the agency; the evaluation, and the translation of course descriptions Del Mar wants from an approved agency, come from the NACES member you choose.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an evaluation to be admitted to Del Mar?
Yes. All foreign transcripts must be evaluated into US equivalency, showing at least a US high school diploma (Apply).
Which agency should I use?
Any NACES member; Del Mar points to the NACES list and notes the agencies are independent (Transcripts).
Can eVerbary translate my course descriptions for transfer credit?
Del Mar's form says it only accepts course descriptions translated by an approved agency (Transcript Evaluation Request Form (PDF)); ask the evaluation agency for that part.
How long does a transfer evaluation take?
TERF requests are routinely processed in 6 to 8 weeks (Transcript Evaluation Request Form (PDF)).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
