How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Columbus State Community College publishes no translation rule of its own: transcripts from abroad that need translation into English reach it through an evaluation from a NACES or AICE member, a general evaluation for proof of high school and a course-by-course evaluation for college credit, sent by the agency.
Columbus State's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it to the agency with your records; the evaluation itself is something we do not provide.

Columbus State asks for an evaluation from a NACES or AICE member organization for foreign transcripts that need translation (transfer credit evaluation), and ECE, one of the two agencies with a Columbus State portal, accepts a complete word-for-word translation, a professional one included (ECE documentation requirements); WES also takes one from a professional translator (WES). Columbus State requirements in detail
Translation
No rule of its own; foreign transcripts that need translation into English require an evaluation from a NACES or AICE member (Transfer credit evaluation). The translation is what the agency needs first.
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency: WES wants a professional translator; ECE accepts any word-for-word translation; The Evaluation Company wants a translator certified by ATA (see below).
High school
Not required for general admission; needed for financial aid or selective programs such as Health Sciences, as a general (degree-by-degree) evaluation sent to highschooltranscript@cscc.edu (Global students: immigrants, residents and other visa holders, high school transcripts).
College credit
Course-by-course evaluation; the agency sends the transcript and evaluation to transcriptevaluation@cscc.edu; most foreign credit is posted as special or technical credit (Transfer credit evaluation).
English and US-graded records
Official transcripts from abroad that are in English and use the US grading system follow the domestic process, no evaluation (Transfer credit evaluation).
F-1 uploads
Passport, proof of completion of secondary education, financial affidavit and bank statements, and test results, uploaded as Workday tasks (F-1 admissions).
Deadlines (F-1)
Autumn: June 1 from outside the US, July 15 inside; spring: October 1 and November 15; no I-20s for summer (F-1 admissions).
When Columbus State asks for a foreign high school record
Students who finished high school abroad, including permanent residents, refugees and other immigrants, do not submit the foreign transcript or diploma to be admitted; most go straight to placement documents or a placement test (Global students: immigrants, residents and other visa holders).
Proof of high school completion is asked for later, and only when it matters: Federal financial aid eligibility, selective admission programs such as Health Sciences, or another program rule.
Then the appropriate office gives you instructions during enrollment, and the route is a general (degree-by-degree) evaluation from a NACES or AICE member, which the agency sends with the transcript to highschooltranscript@cscc.edu (high school transcripts).
Foreign high school transcripts are not used for placement. See high school diploma translation.
If you are also ordering a course-by-course evaluation for college work, and it confirms completion of high school, you need no separate high school report: the Registrar adds the diploma to your record when the college evaluation arrives (Transfer credit evaluation).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
Columbus State accepts any NACES or AICE member and links its own portals at ECE and The Evaluation Company (Transfer credit evaluation).
ECE wants complete, word-for-word translations in the same format as the original and lets applicants prepare them themselves; for $85 it sells a Translation Waiver, translating internally for the report without giving you a translation.
WES, also a NACES member, asks for an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not accept translations by applicants.
The Evaluation Company accepts an outside translator only if certified by the American Translators Association. If you use the TEC portal, eVerbary can assign a translator individually certified by ATA on request: ask for a free quote and say it is for TEC.
Is a foreign credit evaluation worth it?
Columbus State tells students not seeking credit that they need no evaluation of foreign college transcripts, and suggests talking to a New Student Coach or Academic Advisor after admission before paying for one, since some evaluations take time and carry fees (Global students: immigrants, residents and other visa holders).
Credit is awarded from regionally accredited colleges, domestic and foreign, and courses that need a closer look are posted as special or technical credit at the 8000 or 9001 level (Transfer credit evaluation).
Once the report arrives, evaluations usually take five to seven business days.

Uploading the translation to Columbus State
For foreign records the translation does not go to Columbus State: it goes to the agency with your documents (WES, for example, takes it in your WES account).
Ask the agency to send the transcript and the evaluation to transcriptevaluation@cscc.edu for credit or highschooltranscript@cscc.edu for high school (Transfer credit evaluation).
F-1 applicants upload the I-20 documents in Workday as onboarding tasks appear (F-1 admissions).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Columbus State that means we translate your records for the agency; the general or course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from a NACES or AICE member after the translation.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Columbus State require a certified translation?
It states no translation rule of its own. Foreign transcripts that need translation go through a NACES or AICE evaluation (Transfer credit evaluation), and the agency sets the translation rule: WES wants a professional translator (WES).
Do I need my foreign high school diploma to enroll?
No, not for general admission. It may be requested later for financial aid or selective programs such as Health Sciences (Global students: immigrants, residents and other visa holders).
Which evaluation company should I use?
Any NACES or AICE member; ECE and The Evaluation Company have Columbus State portals (Transfer credit evaluation). TEC asks for an ATA-certified translator; ECE and WES accept a professional translation.
Will one evaluation cover high school and college?
Yes, if the course-by-course college evaluation confirms completion of high school (Submitting official high school transcripts).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for The Evaluation Company?
Yes, on request through a free quote; write in the notes that the translation is for a TEC evaluation for Columbus State. ATA certifies translators into English only for certain languages, such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Chinese and Arabic.
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
