Colorado School of Mines says all international transcripts must be accompanied by a certified English translation and a course-by-course credential evaluation, and does not say who must translate.

The evaluation, from WES, ECE, IERF, The Evaluation Company or another NACES member, is required of everyone who studied abroad, US citizens included, and comes from the agency, not from us.
Mines at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Mines' international requirements say transcripts must be "accompanied by a certified English translation" and do not restrict who translates (international first-year requirements); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that translation. Mines requirements in detail
Translation
All international transcripts must be accompanied by a certified English translation (Mines: international first-year requirements, transfer requirements).
Who may translate
Not stated.
Evaluation
Course-by-course (Mines also calls it document-by-document), about $150 to $200; preferred: WES, ECE, The Evaluation Company (partner discount) and IERF, or any NACES member (Mines: international first-year requirements).
Who needs it
Every applicant who studied high school outside the US, citizens or international; transfer applicants who attended a university abroad, who also send syllabi (Mines: international first-year requirements, Mines: international transfer requirements).
After admission
First-years send a final high school transcript in the original language and an English version (Mines: international first-year requirements).
Graduate
Unofficial transcripts in English for review; before enrolling, final transcripts and diplomas in English and a course-by-course evaluation from TEC, ECE or any NACES or AICE member (graduate admissions).
A translation and an evaluation, for citizens too
Mines treats first-year applicants the same whether they are international or domestic, and the same rule follows: anyone who studied or is studying outside the US during high school submits a credential evaluation with the transcript, US citizens included (international first-year requirements).
Mines describes the evaluation as a comparison with US standards, a verification and a conversion of grades to the US system. All international transcripts must also come with a certified English translation.
Sponsored students with certain government or company agreements can ask for a waiver.
Transfer applicants who attended a university abroad follow the same rule and add course syllabi (transfer requirements); translate those along with the transcript if they are not in English.
The agencies Mines prefers and their translation rules
Mines' preferred agencies are WES, ECE, The Evaluation Company and IERF, and you must designate Mines as a copy recipient (Mines: international first-year requirements).
WES accepts a word-for-word translation by a professional service and not the applicant's own. ECE accepts literal translations, including the applicant's own, or sells an $85 Translation Waiver.
The Evaluation Company wants an ATA-certified translator for outside translations, which eVerbary can provide on request through a free quote.
Graduate applicants
The graduate office accepts unofficial transcripts in English for the review, uploaded to the Applicant Portal or emailed.
If you enroll, you send final official transcripts and diplomas in English and an official course-by-course evaluation from The Evaluation Company, ECE or any NACES or AICE member (graduate admissions).

- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Mines
Upload unofficial transcripts and their translation in the Mines Applicant Portal or email admissions@mines.edu; the evaluation agency sends its report to Mines electronically (Mines: international first-year requirements). eVerbary can email the translation directly to admissions on request.
Graduate applicants upload English transcripts in the portal or email grad-admissions@mines.edu (Mines graduate programs: admissions requirements).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
At Mines that means the course-by-course evaluation comes from WES, ECE, IERF, The Evaluation Company or another NACES member; we translate the transcripts and syllabi.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
