How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
College of the Mainland requires international high school and university transcripts to be evaluated course by course by a NACES or AICE member, such as SpanTran, and delivered directly to its Admissions office; its international steps ask for translated and evaluated transcripts from your country of origin.
COM's evaluation agencies, such as ECE, IERF and SDR, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. The translation comes first; the evaluation is something we do not produce.
COM at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
COM asks for a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES or AICE member (evaluation companies), and ECE, a NACES member, accepts a certified translation from a professional service (ECE rule), as do IERF and SDR; SpanTran (TEC) wants a translator certified by ATA. Policy checked on October 26, 2026.

Worth knowing about COM
Course-by-course
The report COM requires for admission.
NACES or AICE
A long list, three agencies in Houston.
Sent by the agency
Directly to COM Admissions.
COM requirements in detail
Translation
Translated and evaluated high school and college transcripts from your country of origin (international students); no rule on who translates.
Who may translate
Not stated by COM; set by the evaluation agency.
Evaluation
Course-by-course, by SpanTran or another NACES agency recognized by COM (transcript evaluation); NACES and AICE members are accepted (International students: evaluation companies).
Agencies named
Among others: SDR, SpanTran and Worldwide Education Consultant Services in Houston, IACEI in Denton, ACEI, IERF, ECE, ERES and CGFNS for nursing (International students: evaluation companies).
Delivery
The agency mails or electronically delivers the evaluation directly to COM Admissions; select College of the Mainland as recipient (Transcript evaluation and prior learning credit, International students: evaluation companies).
When
After your admission application is accepted, with the other supporting documents (International students: how to apply).
What the evaluation agencies ask for the translation
COM accepts any NACES or AICE member, so the agency's rule applies. ECE accepts a complete, literal translation, including your own, or translates internally for an $85 waiver.
IERF wants a literal, line-by-line translation and may ask for a professional one. SDR, in Houston, accepts a certified translator or translates in-house.
SpanTran, now The Evaluation Company, the agency COM names first, wants an outside translator certified by ATA; IACEI and ACEI also ask for ATA-certified translators.
For those, ask eVerbary for a free quote and say which agency it is for.
Three steps, in COM's order
COM describes the evaluation as three steps: request a course-by-course evaluation, the report it requires for admission; order official transcripts, which most agencies want directly from your school; and choose College of the Mainland as the recipient (International students: evaluation companies).
Put the translation before the first step, so the agency has it when your file opens.
The same evaluation is used for transfer credit: COM's transcript evaluation page says all foreign transcripts, from high school or university, go through an independent agency course by course (Transcript evaluation and prior learning credit).
Need a certified translation for COM?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- High school transcripts and diploma
- College or university transcripts
- Degree certificates
- Nursing licenses and records (CGFNS), for nursing applicants
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to COM
The translation goes to the agency with your records; the agency sends the course-by-course evaluation directly to COM Admissions and Records (Transcript evaluation and prior learning credit).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For COM that means we translate your records; the course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from a NACES or AICE member.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does College of the Mainland require a translation or an evaluation?
Both: translated and evaluated transcripts (International students: how to apply), with a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES or AICE member (International students: evaluation companies).
Which agency should I use for COM?
Any NACES or AICE member; COM lists SpanTran first and names SDR, ECE, IERF and others (International students: evaluation companies, Transcript evaluation and prior learning credit).
Can I hand in the evaluation myself?
No. The agency must deliver it directly to COM Admissions (Transcript evaluation and prior learning credit).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for SpanTran?
Yes, on request through a free quote: Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian at $34.95 per page, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian at $44.95. ATA certifies no other languages into English.
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
