How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
The College of Staten Island requires graduate applicants who studied outside the US to submit an official course-by-course evaluation with a GPA, and certified copies of the documents used, for each university attended, from one of 11 listed agencies.
CSI's evaluation agencies, such as WES, ECE, IEE and FCSA, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You translate first and the agency evaluates; the evaluation is something we do not provide, and undergraduates follow CUNY's central rules.

Worth knowing about CSI
11 agencies
From ECE and WES to Scholaro and Globe.
GPA plus copies
The report must include a GPA and certified copies.
Every university
One evaluation per institution attended.
CSI requirements in detail
Translation
No rule of its own; the evaluation agency sets it.
Evaluation
An official course-by-course evaluation for each university or college attended outside the US, with a GPA and certified copies of all documents used (Graduate admissions: international applicants).
Accepted agencies
ECE, Foreign Credentials Service of America, Globe Language Services, IFCS, IEE, IERF, Josef Silny & Associates, Scholaro, SpanTran: The Evaluation Company (with a CSI application), Transcript Research and WES (Graduate admissions: international applicants).
Application
CSI's graduate application; the Doctorate in Physical Therapy uses PTCAS (Graduate admissions: international applicants).
English tests
TOEFL 79, IELTS Academic 6.5, PTE 53 or Duolingo 100 for students for whom English is a second language (Graduate admissions: international applicants).
Undergraduate
Through CUNY's central application and its translation guidelines.
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
WES requires an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator or translation service and does not accept translations by applicants (WES).
ECE accepts a complete, literal translation in the original format from anyone, including you, and sells an $85 waiver under which it translates for the report (ECE).
IEE wants a certified translator, not the applicant or a notary (IEE), and FCSA accepts most professional agencies (FCSA).
SpanTran: The Evaluation Company, for which CSI has its own application, accepts an outside translation only from a translator certified by ATA (TEC); eVerbary can assign one through a free quote. Choose the agency first, then order the translation that meets its rule.
One report per institution, with certified copies
CSI asks for a separate course-by-course evaluation for each university or college you attended outside the US, and when you order it you must request a report that includes a GPA and certified copies of all documentation the agency used (Graduate admissions: international applicants).
That way CSI sees your translated records through the agency, not separately. Programs may also ask for recommendation letters, entrance exams or a personal statement, listed on each program's requirements page.
Undergraduate applicants apply through CUNY, whose translation guidelines and free evaluation option are on the CUNY page.
Need a certified translation for CSI?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- University transcripts or marksheets, each institution
- Degree certificates
- Grading scale or legend
- Secondary records, for CUNY undergraduate admission
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to CSI
For graduate admission the translation goes to the evaluation agency with your records, not to CSI; the agency sends the course-by-course report with certified copies of your documents (Graduate admissions: international applicants).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For CSI that means we translate your transcripts and degrees for the agency; the course-by-course evaluation is ordered and paid by you after the translation.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
