How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Clark College asks for transcripts from institutions outside the US in English and through a NACES-approved evaluation service: a full course-by-course report that the agency sends directly to Enrollment Services.
For direct course equivalencies it also wants course descriptions in English, and says verifying them may require a translation service at your expense.
Clark College's evaluation agencies, such as WES, ECE and IERF, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary; the evaluation itself comes from the agency, not from us.
Clark College at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Clark asks for a course-by-course evaluation from any NACES member and notes that English course descriptions may require a translation service (international transcript evaluations); WES, a NACES member, accepts a certified translation from a professional translation service (WES translation rules). Clark College requirements in detail
Translation
Foreign transcripts reach Clark in English through a NACES-approved evaluation service; course descriptions must be in English (Clark College: international transcript evaluations).
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency for transcripts; for course descriptions Clark mentions a translation service at your expense (Clark College: international transcript evaluations).
Evaluation
A full course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member, showing the institution, credential, GPA, course subjects, and US grade and credit equivalents (Clark College: international transcript evaluations).
Delivery
Sent directly by the evaluation service to Enrollment Services by email or by mail to 1933 Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver (Clark College: international transcript evaluations).
Cost and timing
Agency fees generally $200 to $275; Clark's evaluation typically takes 4 to 6 weeks (Clark College: international transcript evaluations).
F-1 applicants
Send transcripts from your current or most recent school with the international application (how to apply).
Generic credit first, direct equivalencies with course descriptions
When the NACES report arrives, Clark awards indirect course equivalencies: credit listed by discipline with a generic number, such as HIST 900 instead of HIST&116 (international transcript evaluations).
Generic credit may not satisfy a specific requirement in your degree.
To be considered for direct equivalencies, you submit course descriptions in English to Credential Evaluations, and Clark verifies that they are official, which it says may require a translation service at your expense.
That is the one place where Clark itself points to a translation service. Translate the syllabus or catalog description of each course you want matched, keeping the hours, content and level as stated, so Credential Evaluations can compare them with its own courses.
What NACES agencies ask for the translation
Clark accepts any NACES member, and each agency has its own translation rule. WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator or service and does not accept translations by applicants.
ECE wants complete, literal translations in the same format as the original and lets applicants translate themselves, or sells an $85 Translation Waiver under which it translates internally for the report.
IERF asks for typed, line-by-line translations and may require a professional one.
Whichever you choose, the report must list GPA and US grade and credit equivalents, so a course-by-course report is the one to order (Clark College: international transcript evaluations).

Uploading the translation to Clark College
The transcript translation goes to the NACES agency with your records (WES, for example, takes it in your WES account); the agency sends the course-by-course report directly to Clark's Enrollment Services (Clark College: international transcript evaluations).
Translated course descriptions go to Credential Evaluations after you receive your first evaluation. Students on a visa apply through International Programs first (Clark College: international transcript evaluations, how to apply).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
At Clark College that means the NACES course-by-course report comes from an agency you choose; we translate the transcripts and course descriptions.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Clark College accept my foreign transcript directly?
No. Transcripts from outside the US are read through a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES-approved service, sent directly to Clark (Clark College: international transcript evaluations).
Why did my courses come in as HIST 900 or similar?
Clark awards indirect equivalencies by default; for direct ones, submit course descriptions in English (Clark College: international transcript evaluations).
Do my course descriptions need a translation?
Yes, if they are not in English. Clark says verifying them may require a translation service at your expense (Clark College: international transcript evaluations); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation.
How much does the evaluation cost?
Clark estimates $200 to $275 depending on the agency, and its own processing takes 4 to 6 weeks (Clark College: international transcript evaluations).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
