How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Chemeketa Community College publishes no translation rule of its own: transcripts for international credit must first be evaluated by a third-party US company, and Chemeketa recommends a SpanTran (The Evaluation Company) Divisional Course Analysis while accepting any NACES member.
Chemeketa's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary; SpanTran asks for a translator certified by ATA, which eVerbary provides on request. The evaluation itself comes from the agency, not from us.

Chemeketa requirements in detail
Translation
Chemeketa states no translation rule; international transcripts reach it through a third-party evaluation. The translation is what the agency needs before it can evaluate a document not in English.
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency: SpanTran (TEC) wants an ATA-certified translator; WES and ECE accept a professional service.
Evaluation
By a third-party company in the US; Chemeketa recommends SpanTran's Divisional Course Analysis and accepts any NACES member (Chemeketa: transferring to Chemeketa (international)).
Delivery
Evaluations arrive electronically through the SpanTran portal, or by mail to Admissions, P.O. Box 14007, Salem (Chemeketa: transferring to Chemeketa (international)).
Credit request
Then file a Request for Evaluation and Transfer of Previous Credits; Chemeketa charges no fee for its review (Chemeketa: transferring to Chemeketa (international)).
Admission
Upload high school and/or college transcripts in Chemeketa's portal after applying; admission decisions within a week of complete documents (how to apply).
SpanTran or another NACES agency: the translation rule differs
Chemeketa points applicants to SpanTran, now The Evaluation Company, and to its Divisional Course Analysis, whose fee is listed in the application material; SpanTran's site lists the documents needed and its translation services (transferring to Chemeketa).
The Evaluation Company accepts outside translations only from translators certified by the American Translators Association, or translates in-house after your application. eVerbary can assign an ATA-certified translator on request (see below).
Chemeketa also accepts an evaluation from any NACES member.
WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator or service and not the applicant's own; ECE accepts literal translations, including the applicant's own, or sells an $85 Translation Waiver. With either, a standard eVerbary certified translation is enough.
Admission and credit at Chemeketa
To apply, you upload your high school and/or college transcripts in Chemeketa's portal; the page does not ask for a translation at that stage (how to apply).
Credit from abroad comes later: the agency's report reaches Chemeketa, you file the request form, and evaluations are done in the order received, so peak weeks at the start of term take longer (Chemeketa: transferring to Chemeketa (international)).
For classes with prerequisites, bring a transcript that shows them to an advising appointment.
Need a certified translation for Chemeketa?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- University or college transcripts, for the agency evaluation
- Degree certificates
- High school transcripts, for the application
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Chemeketa
For credit, the translation goes to SpanTran or another NACES agency with your records; the evaluation reaches Chemeketa electronically or by mail, and you file the Request for Evaluation and Transfer of Previous Credits (Chemeketa: transferring to Chemeketa (international)).
Admission documents are uploaded in Chemeketa's applicant portal (Chemeketa: international application process); eVerbary can also email a translation directly to the international office on request.
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for Chemeketa, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
At Chemeketa that means the Divisional Course Analysis or other NACES evaluation comes from the agency; we translate the transcripts you send to it.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Chemeketa require a certified translation?
Chemeketa itself publishes no translation rule; the agency you use for the evaluation does (Chemeketa: transferring to Chemeketa (international)).
Do I have to use SpanTran for Chemeketa?
No. Chemeketa recommends SpanTran but accepts an evaluation from any NACES member (Chemeketa: transferring to Chemeketa (international)).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for SpanTran?
Yes, on request through a free quote with the requirement in the notes, for Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) or Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page). ATA certifies no other languages into English.
Does Chemeketa charge for evaluating my credits?
Not for its own review; the agency's evaluation is paid to the agency (Chemeketa: transferring to Chemeketa (international)).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
