How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Calvin University asks transfer applicants seeking credit from an international university to provide the official transcript in its original language together with an English translation; it does not say who must translate.
Calvin University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
First-year transcripts and exam results are sent directly by your school, and graduate applicants whose records are not in English need a course-by-course evaluation from SpanTran, ECE or WES, which is something we do not produce.
Calvin at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Calvin's transfer page asks for the official transcript in its original language "as well as an English translation" and does not restrict who translates (transfer admissions); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Calvin requirements in detail
Translation (transfer)
Official transcript in the original language and an English translation, for credit from an international university (Transfer admissions).
Who may translate
Not stated (Transfer admissions).
First-year
The high school sends the transcript directly to intladm@calvin.edu or your counselor; national exam results come from the school or testing company (international process).
Graduate evaluation
Not needed if transcripts are in English and show a GPA and conferred degree; otherwise course by course from SpanTran (TEC), ECE or WES (graduate admissions).
How to send (transfer)
Email to admissions@calvin.edu or mail to Calvin University Admissions, 3201 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 (Transfer admissions).
Transfers: the original and an English translation
For credit from an international university, Calvin wants both versions: the official transcript in its original language and an English translation (Transfer admissions).
Calvin is test optional for transfers and takes official or unofficial college transcripts with the application, by email to admissions@calvin.edu or by mail.
A certified eVerbary translation, delivered as a PDF, can go in the same email.
Graduate applicants: when an evaluation is needed
Calvin's graduate programs do not ask for an evaluation when the bachelor's transcript is in English and shows a GPA and the conferred degree.
Otherwise, an official course-by-course evaluation must come from SpanTran (The Evaluation Company), ECE or WES (Graduate admissions details).
WES wants a professional word-for-word translation, ECE accepts any literal one, and SpanTran asks for an ATA-certified translator, which eVerbary can provide through a free quote.

- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Calvin
Email the translation with your transfer application items to admissions@calvin.edu (Transfer admissions). Graduate evaluations come directly from SpanTran, ECE or WES (Graduate admissions details).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Calvin that means we translate your transcripts; the course-by-course evaluation for graduate programs comes from SpanTran, ECE or WES.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Who can translate my transcript for Calvin?
Calvin asks for an English translation and does not say who must make it (Transfer admissions). A certified translation from a professional service qualifies.
Can I send my own high school transcript?
No. Calvin accepts first-year transcripts only directly from the school (International application process).
Do graduate applicants need an evaluation?
Only if the transcript is not in English or does not show a GPA and degree (Graduate admissions details).
Which evaluators does Calvin accept for graduate programs?
SpanTran (The Evaluation Company), ECE and WES (Graduate admissions details).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
