How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Bristol Community College requires foreign transcripts to be evaluated for US equivalency: a document-by-document evaluation for high school records and a course-by-course evaluation for college work, from CED, WES, ECE, Josef Silny or any NACES or AICE member.
Bristol's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. Translate first, then order the evaluation, which we do not provide.

Bristol requirements in detail
Translation
No rule of its own; the evaluation agency sets it (Foreign credential evaluation).
High school
A document-by-document evaluation of transcripts, diplomas or leaving certificates, sent to Admissions (Foreign credential evaluation).
College work
A course-by-course evaluation of levels, equivalents and grades; after admission, Admissions decides transfer credit (Foreign credential evaluation).
Approved agencies
CED, WES, ECE and Josef Silny & Associates, or any NACES or AICE member (Foreign credential evaluation).
Residents and US applicants
Anyone who graduated from secondary school outside the US submits an official evaluation showing US equivalency (catalog).
F-1 records
Official secondary transcript or diploma and national exam results; transfer applicants add all foreign college transcripts (application instructions).
Two evaluations, two report types
Bristol is precise about the kind of report.
High school transcripts, diplomas or leaving certificates need a document-by-document evaluation that sets the US equivalent; university or college work needs a course-by-course evaluation of levels, course equivalents and grades.
Both must be done by an approved center and forwarded to the Admissions Office, which then runs its own transfer credit evaluation if you are admitted (foreign credential evaluation).
The catalog applies the high school rule to every applicant who finished secondary school abroad, not only F-1 students (catalog).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
Bristol names four centers and accepts any NACES or AICE member. WES wants a complete, word-for-word translation from a professional translator, not the applicant.
ECE accepts a word-for-word translation made by anyone, including you, and sells an $85 translation waiver.
Josef Silny & Associates, which has a page for Bristol applicants, accepts outside translations made in the US only from ATA-certified translators; eVerbary can assign one on request through a free quote, for the languages ATA certifies. Choose the agency first and match the translation to its rule.

- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.

Uploading the translation to Bristol
The translation goes to the evaluation agency with your records; ask the agency to send a copy of the results to the Bristol Admissions Office (Foreign credential evaluation).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Bristol that means we translate your records for the agency; the document-by-document or course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from the agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Bristol Community College require a certified translation?
Bristol itself asks for an evaluation, not a translation (Foreign credential evaluation). The agency sets the translation rule; WES requires a professional translator (WES).
What type of evaluation do I need for my high school diploma?
A document-by-document evaluation (Foreign credential evaluation).
Which agencies does Bristol accept?
CED, WES, ECE, Josef Silny & Associates, or any NACES or AICE member (Foreign credential evaluation).
I am a resident who finished high school abroad. What do I need?
An official evaluation showing US equivalency (Catalog: admissions).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
