Two identity numbers for one person
The RNP conducted a national re-enrolment and issued a new identity document with new numbering, so a Honduran file frequently contains documents under two different identity number formats for the same person.
That is the re-enrolment rather than a discrepancy, and the passport may carry either depending on when it was issued. We reproduce each as printed and say which document each comes from.
The RNP holds the register
Honduras keeps its civil registry at the Registro Nacional de las Personas, which also issues the identity card, and the passport is issued by the immigration institute using that data.
The passport shows no parents. The certificación de nacimiento does, with its tomo, folio and acta references, and we transcribe all of them.
Reposición, and what it is not
Honduran files sometimes contain a reposición — the lawful reconstruction of a registry entry lost or destroyed — which reads to an unfamiliar eye like a record created after the fact.
It is a recognised procedure with its own instrument and it is not evidence of irregularity. We translate it as what it is, with its legal basis.
Minors, and the two surnames
A Honduran minor travelling without both parents requires authorisation, which is a separate instrument from the passport and appears in family travel files.
