Registro civil de matrimonio, and where it was celebrated
Colombia registers marriages in the registro civil de matrimonio, and the entry records who celebrated it — a notary, a civil judge or a religious authority whose marriage is then registered civilly. The certificate names that, along with the notary or registry office, the serial number and the NUIP of the spouses where recorded.

The divorce is usually written on the marriage record
This is the part that surprises people filing in the United States. In most of Latin America a divorce does not replace the marriage certificate — it is recorded as a marginal annotation on the marriage entry itself. A certificate issued after the divorce carries the annotation; a certificate printed before it does not, and looks like a subsisting marriage.
So if you are proving that a prior marriage ended, the document you need is usually a freshly issued marriage certificate showing the annotation, not the old one in the drawer. Order a current copy before translating. We translate every annotation present, on both sides of the page.
What USCIS requires
The requirement is the same for every country: under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), a foreign-language document must be accompanied by a complete English translation and the translator's certification that it is accurate. Do I need a new certificate to show my divorce?
Usually yes. The divorce is annotated on the marriage record, so only a certificate issued after the divorce carries it. An older copy will read as a marriage still in force.
