How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026

Kingsborough asks applicants educated outside the US for official transcripts with certified translations, which CUNY's central office or an evaluation service then evaluates, and it does not say who must translate.

Kingsborough Community College (CUNY) accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

An older Kingsborough page from 2018 says the evaluation service should provide the translation, so check with Admissions if you rely on it; the evaluation itself is something we do not provide.

Kingsborough at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Kingsborough's How to Apply page asks for official transcripts with certified translations and does not restrict who translates (how to apply); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Policy checked on October 27, 2026.

Kingsborough requirements in detail

Translation

Official transcripts with certified translations (How to apply).

Who may translate

Not stated on the current page. An older page names the evaluation services (see below).

Evaluation

By CUNY's University Application Processing Center or one of CUNY's linked evaluation services (How to apply).

Discounted services

International Education Evaluations has a custom KCC application at $145; SpanTran has one at $170 (How to apply).

Non-degree students

All foreign documents translated and evaluated by a CUNY-approved service first; SpanTran's KCC application at $170 (Non-degree applicants).

Final decision

CUNY's processing center makes the final decision on evaluations and admission recommendations (Students with foreign documents (older page)).

Two discounted evaluations for Kingsborough students

Kingsborough offers two shortcuts.

International Education Evaluations (IEE) built a custom application for KCC students that selects the right evaluation at $145, and SpanTran built one at $170; you can also let CUNY's processing center evaluate the translated transcripts (How to apply).

Each agency sets its own translation rule.

IEE accepts a certified translator but not the applicant or a notary (IEE); SpanTran, now The Evaluation Company, accepts an outside translator only if certified by ATA (TEC), and eVerbary can assign one through a free quote.

Non-degree applicants follow the same path: all documents from outside the US are translated and evaluated by a CUNY-approved service before you apply, with SpanTran's KCC application at $170 (Non-degree applicants). CUNY's wider rules, including its translation guidelines, are on the CUNY page.

Where Kingsborough's pages differ

The current How to Apply page asks for official transcripts with certified translations, evaluated by CUNY or a service (How to apply).

An older Students with Foreign Documents page, written for Spring 2018, says freshmen need the official high school credentials translation from the listed evaluation services (Evaluation Service, Josef Silny & Associates and Transcript Research), and that transfers have foreign college transcripts translated and evaluated by them, with documents brought to the Village One-Stop Center (older page).

We have not resolved the difference; if you choose one of those services, ask it whether it translates or takes an outside translation.

Need a certified translation for Kingsborough?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • High school transcripts and diploma
  • Foreign college or university transcripts, for transfer
  • National exam certificates
  • Grading scale or legend of each transcript

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to Kingsborough

  • Apply through CUNY; transcripts can be emailed to Sendtranscript.2kcc@kbcc.cuny.edu, and students educated outside the US follow the evaluation directions on the How to Apply page (How to apply).

  • With IEE or SpanTran, the translation goes to the agency with your records and the agency sends the evaluation.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Kingsborough that means we translate your records; the CUNY, IEE or SpanTran evaluation is ordered separately.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

What translation does Kingsborough ask for?

Official transcripts with certified translations (How to apply). The page does not say who must translate.

Which evaluation is cheapest for Kingsborough?

IEE's custom KCC application costs $145 and SpanTran's $170; CUNY's processing center can also evaluate your records (How to apply).

Will IEE accept an eVerbary translation?

IEE accepts translations by a certified translator and not by the applicant or a notary public (IEE).

Who makes the final decision on my foreign records?

CUNY's University Application Processing Center (Students with foreign documents (older page)).

I am applying as a non-degree student. Do I need an evaluation?

Yes. Documents from outside the US must be translated and evaluated by a CUNY-approved service (Non-degree applicants).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
