How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

The Evergreen State College publishes no translation rule of its own: transcripts from any non-US high school or college must be evaluated by a paid professional credential evaluation service, through Evergreen's own Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) application, as a course-by-course report.

Evergreen's evaluation agency, ECE, accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

You order the translation first and send it to ECE with your records; ECE then writes the report, which we do not provide.

Worth knowing about Evergreen

One agency: ECE

Through Evergreen's own ECE application link.

High school too

Non-US secondary transcripts are evaluated as well.

Not complete without it

Evergreen requirements in detail

Translation

Evergreen states no translation rule; non-US transcripts reach it through the ECE report. The translation is what ECE needs to evaluate a document not in English.

Who may translate

Set by ECE: complete, literal, word-for-word translations in the same format; ECE lets applicants translate themselves (ECE).

Evaluation

All transcripts from non-US high schools or higher education institutions, evaluated by a paid professional service: ECE's U.S. Evaluation Report, course-by-course (The Evergreen State College: international undergraduate admissions).

When

The application is not complete until Evergreen receives the report (The Evergreen State College: international undergraduate admissions).

Official transcripts

From the school, a college, or a digital transcript service (The Evergreen State College: international undergraduate admissions).

Evergreen does not leave the choice of agency open: it links its own Educational Credential Evaluators application and tells applicants to choose the course-by-course report (undergraduate international admissions).

The rule covers high school transcripts as well as college ones, so first-year applicants educated abroad also order a report, and the application stays incomplete until it arrives.

ECE asks for translations that are complete, legible, literal and word-for-word, in the same format as the original.

It allows applicants to translate their own documents, and it sells an $85 Translation Waiver under which it translates internally for the report without giving you a translation document.

A certified translation from eVerbary gives you a translation you can reuse elsewhere, for example for a scholarship or a later transfer.

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

At Evergreen that means the course-by-course report comes from ECE; we translate the transcripts you send to ECE.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Which evaluation agency does Evergreen accept?

Evergreen links its own ECE application and asks for the course-by-course report (The Evergreen State College: international undergraduate admissions).

Does my high school transcript need an evaluation?

Yes, if it was issued by a non-US school (The Evergreen State College: international undergraduate admissions).

Can I translate my own transcript for ECE?

ECE allows it, as long as it is complete and word-for-word (ECE); a certified translation is what most other institutions ask for.

Is my application complete before the report arrives?

No. Evergreen considers it complete only once it receives the U.S. Evaluation Report (The Evergreen State College: international undergraduate admissions).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
