How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026

Duquesne's Center for Global Engagement asks international undergraduates for official records from the last four years in the original language with certified English translations, and does not say who must translate.

Duquesne University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

Graduate applicants with degrees from outside the US instead need a course-by-course report from ECE, Josef Silny, Scholaro, TEC or WES, an evaluation we do not provide.

Duquesne at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Duquesne's undergraduate international requirements ask for credentials in the native language with certified English translations and do not restrict who translates (undergraduate international admission); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Duquesne requirements in detail

Translation (undergraduate)

Records in the native language with certified English translations (International undergraduate application).

Who may translate

Which records

Original or attested copies of official records from the last four years; every year of secondary school, and any coursework after it (International undergraduate application, degree equivalencies).

Where to upload

Official and final grade reports can be uploaded to the application portal; if you cannot upload, contact the Center for Global Engagement (International undergraduate application).

Evaluation (undergraduate)

None from an agency: Duquesne reads your record against the grading system of your country and other students from it (International undergraduate application).

Graduate

A course-by-course report from ECE, Josef Silny, Scholaro, TEC or WES, sent directly to Duquesne, counts as the official transcript (graduate evaluation).

Nursing (BSN)

Same translation wording; scans are accepted for review, originals before classes start, and photocopies are not official (BSN international).

Undergraduates: Duquesne reads the translation itself

For first-year applicants Duquesne does not send you to an evaluation agency.

The Center for Global Engagement takes into account the education and grading system of your country and compares you with applicants from the same country, so what it reads is your native-language record and its certified English translation (undergraduate international admission).

Its degree equivalency guide says which credential counts as a secondary school diploma for each country; every year of secondary school must be submitted, and any coursework after it as well, and final grades and the diploma follow once you finish (International degree equivalencies).

The same sentence that asks for certified translations says credentials should be sent directly from the school you attended, and the next one lets you upload official and final grade reports to the application portal (International undergraduate application).

In practice, translate the records you upload; if your school sends records directly, the translation can go to the Center for Global Engagement with your name and application details.

The BSN page adds that scans are accepted for the review and originals must arrive before classes begin (School of Nursing: international BSN admissions).

Graduate programs: a course-by-course report

The Center for Global Engagement does not decide graduate admission (graduate international).

Each graduate program asks applicants with degrees from outside the US for a course-by-course report from one of five services: ECE (course by course, sent to Duquesne), Josef Silny (course by course with GPA), Scholaro (its Duquesne form), TEC (the Course Analysis, on its Duquesne form) or WES (the ICAP course-by-course).

A report sent directly by the service is treated as the official transcript; nursing programs have their own instructions (graduate evaluation).

Each agency sets its own translation rule: WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator or service (WES), and ECE accepts a complete, literal translation from anyone and sells an $85 waiver (ECE). Translate first, then send the translation to the agency with your records.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Duquesne that means the course-by-course report graduate programs require comes from ECE, Josef Silny, Scholaro, TEC or WES, not from us.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does Duquesne require a certified translation for international undergraduates?

Yes: records in the native language with certified English translations; Duquesne does not say who must translate (International undergraduate application).

Do I need a WES evaluation to apply to Duquesne as a first-year student?

No. Duquesne evaluates your record itself, against students from your country (International undergraduate application). Graduate programs do require a course-by-course report (International transcript credential evaluation (graduate)).

Which evaluation services does Duquesne accept for graduate study?

ECE, Josef Silny & Associates, Scholaro, The Evaluation Company and WES, each with a specific report type (International transcript credential evaluation (graduate)).

Can I upload scans first?

The BSN page says scans are accepted for the review of your application and originals must arrive before classes begin (School of Nursing: international BSN admissions).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
