The letter your previous insurer writes
It is called a letter of experience, a no-claims certificate, a certificado de siniestralidad, a bonus-malus statement or an attestation d'assurance, and it says four things: who was insured, on what vehicle, for how long, and what claims were made. It comes from the insurance company, not from any government office.
It is the single most useful piece of paper a newly arrived driver owns, and most people leave it behind.
Why it is worth translating
A US insurer rating a driver with no domestic history has nothing to go on and tends to price accordingly. Some insurers will take a documented claims-free history abroad into account; others will not, and it varies by company and by state. Is a bonus-malus coefficient converted into a US rating?
No. It is reproduced as the document states it. Mapping it onto a US tier would be an underwriting judgement, not a translation.
